Babcock Graduate Laments ₦10m Tuition, Says Degree Hasn’t Earned Him ₦100k Job in a Year
A young Nigerian man has sparked debate online after sharing his frustration, one year after graduating from Babcock University.
In a video posted on social media, he disclosed that he spent over ₦10 million obtaining a degree that has not secured him a job paying even ₦100,000 monthly. According to him, despite society’s common “just get a degree” mantra, many courses in Nigeria have little or no employment prospects.

He pointed out that fields such as accounting, banking and finance, medicine, law, and tech still offer viable opportunities, but lamented that disciplines like political science, public administration, chemistry, and history seldom feature in job openings.
Detailing his expenses, the graduate revealed he paid about ₦2.7 million per session for four years, alongside extra costs for summer classes. Yet, his certificate now lies “somewhere in his mother’s house” without yielding any financial returns.
He further explained that a church member advised him to return to school for another degree in a more marketable course — a move he believes saved him from making desperate decisions. In a light-hearted but pointed remark, he joked that people should not be surprised if they one day see his face on the EFCC’s page out of frustration.
