According to a report obtained by Akahi News, the Cross River State Government has made remarkable progress in integrating newly recruited workers into its payroll system, following months of careful verification and onboarding. This development is part of a broader initiative to enhance workforce administration, improve transparency, and ensure timely remuneration for all employees.
Over 1,200 New Employees Added to Payroll
In a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant General, it was confirmed that a total of 1,221 newly recruited personnel have been successfully incorporated into the state payroll between September and November 2025.

Providing a detailed breakdown, the Accountant General revealed that 180 staff were onboarded in September, followed by 281 in October. November saw the capture of 559 new employees. Notably, 201 Forest Guards, Batch 1, have also been fully integrated into the system, reflecting the government’s commitment to bolstering environmental and security operations across the state.
Akahi News gathered that this payroll integration initiative is part of a wider workforce reform programme designed to enhance operational efficiency within the state’s ministries, departments, and agencies.
Commitment to Transparency and Efficiency
The Accountant General emphasised the government’s unwavering dedication to accuracy and fairness in workforce management. “The Government remains committed to ensuring that every duly employed worker is accurately captured and promptly remunerated,” the statement read. This assurance underscores the administration’s intent to eliminate discrepancies that have previously hindered payroll processes and delayed salaries for state employees.
Furthermore, Akahi News reports that the payroll onboarding exercise is ongoing, with additional verified workers scheduled for integration in December 2025. This phased approach ensures that all eligible personnel are properly accounted for, and that no worker is inadvertently left out of the system.
Acknowledging Workers’ Patience and Dedication
The Accountant General also commended all newly recruited employees for their patience during the verification and onboarding process. Staff members were urged to remain dedicated to their duties, as the government continues to ensure seamless payroll inclusion.
“Your commitment and professionalism during this process are greatly appreciated,” the statement noted, adding that the integration of new employees is not only a step toward operational efficiency but also a demonstration of the government’s broader vision for public service reform.
Impact on Public Service Delivery
Analysts speaking to Akahi News noted that the payroll integration initiative is expected to improve service delivery across various sectors in Cross River State. By ensuring that employees are consistently remunerated, the government aims to enhance morale, reduce corruption risks, and create a more accountable and responsive public sector.
This latest development reinforces Cross River State’s position as a leader in workforce reform within Nigeria, showcasing a model for other states to emulate in balancing transparency, efficiency, and employee welfare.
