Dangote Industries Issues Stern Warning on Fake Dangote Trucks, Vows Legal Action
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has sounded a fresh alarm over the illegal branding of unauthorized trucks with its official logo, warning offenders of imminent legal consequences. Akahi News gathered that despite repeated cautions, several independent truckers still use the company’s identity without approval, misleading the public whenever such vehicles are involved in accidents or criminal activities.

Company’s Strong Position on Brand Misuse
In a public statement, Dangote Industries described the practice as “unlawful and misleading,” stressing that the misuse of its logo threatens the company’s reputation and creates false associations with road mishaps.
The company stated:
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorized vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group.”
Crackdown on Fake Dangote Trucks
Akahi News learnt that the company will work closely with law enforcement agencies to clamp down on offenders. Individuals and firms found guilty of this brand misrepresentation risk facing legal prosecution.
Dangote Industries further appealed to the media and the public to verify reports before linking road accidents or crimes to Dangote trucks, as many of the implicated vehicles are often not part of its official fleet.
Dangote’s Trucking Operations in Nigeria
With a fleet of over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, including more than 3,000 managed by third-party contractors, Dangote Industries runs one of the largest logistics networks in Africa. On any given day, over 6,000 trucks are deployed across the country, directly and indirectly providing jobs for more than 36,000 people.
This latest warning underscores the company’s determination to protect its brand image and maintain public trust, especially amid the growing concern over accidents wrongly attributed to its operations.
