Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, marked a significant milestone on Saturday, 31st January 2026, as it hosted its 45th Pre-Convocation Lecture, featuring Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), as one of the distinguished guest speakers. Prestigious Honor for Dr. Okonjo-Iweala

In recognition of her remarkable contributions to global trade, economic policy, and sustainable development, ABU awarded Dr. Okonjo-Iweala a Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa. The World Trade Organisation chief expressed her gratitude for the honor, describing ABU as “one of Nigeria’s oldest and best established universities.”
