FG Celebrates 17-Year-Old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, Winner of Global English Language Skills Contest

The Federal Government has honoured 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu after she emerged as the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London.
At a ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented Nafisa with a cheque of N200,000, commending her for bringing pride to Nigeria on the international stage.
Government’s Commitment to Excellence
The event, attended by top education stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmed, and the Yobe State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Abba Adam, also recognised five other category winners from the competition.
Dr. Alausa described Nafisa’s victory as a reflection of the brilliance and resilience of Nigerian students. He stressed that her global recognition reinforces the importance of sustained investment in education, assuring that the Federal Government will continue to promote academic excellence through scholarships, mentorships, and improved access to quality learning resources.
Yobe State’s Progress in Education
Prof. Abba Adam hailed Nafisa and her peers as “Amazons” and symbols of resilience. He highlighted Yobe State’s achievements in rebuilding its education sector, including the graduation of 171 state-sponsored medical students from Indian universities, now serving in hospitals across the state. He also mentioned the ongoing upgrading of colleges of education, agriculture, and business studies to strengthen teaching and research.
Nafisa’s Inspiring Initiative
In her remarks, Nafisa expressed gratitude to her parents, teachers, and the Nigerian government for their support. She pledged to inspire other students to embrace perseverance and confidence in their ability to compete globally.
She also unveiled her initiative, English Language for Peace and Development, a project designed to promote literacy, dialogue, and social cohesion among young people.
Her achievement, according to education experts, stands as a beacon of hope and a call to action for greater investment in Nigeria’s educational future.
