A borehole project facilitated by Hon Dr Martins Achadu has been sited in Usu Village, Ezekwe, Igede Ward of Yala 2 State Constituency in Cross River State, according to materials circulating on the Ukelle Nation platform.
However, as of press time, there is no publicly verified video evidence confirming that the facility has been fully completed and is currently functional.

Mixed Reactions Over Project Status
Photographs shared online show a borehole structure installed within the community. Yet, Akahi News gathered that while the physical structure appears to have been drilled or installed, there is no clear footage demonstrating water flowing from the facility or residents actively drawing water from it.
This has prompted cautious reactions from some observers who say that, in development reporting, there is a distinction between project siting and confirmed operational delivery.
Community sources did not dispute that work had taken place. However, they were unable to independently confirm whether the borehole is fully operational or already serving residents.

Phase 1 Selection Confirmed
Akahi News learnt that Usu Village is listed among the selected communities under Phase 1 of the borehole project initiative reportedly facilitated by Hon Dr Martins Achadu.
The phased rollout suggests that multiple communities are expected to benefit over time. What remains to be clarified is the current operational status of the Usu Village installation.
Development experts note that borehole projects typically involve drilling, installation of pumping systems, water testing, and in some cases, power connection before they become fully functional. Without visual or technical confirmation of these stages, it can be premature to declare completion.

Traditional Rulers Offer Prayers
Despite the uncertainty surrounding operational status, traditional rulers in the community were seen offering prayers for Hon Dr Martins Achadu in connection with the project.
Akahi News gathered that community leaders acknowledged the effort as a step toward addressing long-standing water challenges in the area. Access to potable water has remained a pressing need in many rural parts of Yala 2 State Constituency.
The prayers and expressions of appreciation appear to reflect recognition of the intervention itself, even as residents await full confirmation of functionality.
The Need for Transparent Project Updates
In rural infrastructure delivery, transparency plays a crucial role in building public trust. Clear updates—whether through official commissioning, technical reports, or verified video evidence—help communities distinguish between projects that are underway and those that are fully operational.
Akahi News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available regarding the status and functionality of the Usu Village borehole.
For now, what is confirmed is that a borehole structure has been sited in the community under Phase 1 of the initiative. Whether it is fully completed and actively supplying water remains to be independently verified.
