Human Rights Lawyer Declares February 2 Sit-at-Home Order ‘Fraudulent’; Urges Ndi-Igbo to Carry On With Daily Activities

Akahi News has gathered that Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a prominent human rights lawyer and lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on residents of the South-East to disregard the alleged sit-at-home order scheduled for Monday, 2 February 2026. The order, reportedly issued under the pseudonym “Emma Powerful,” had instructed a total shutdown across Biafraland in solidarity with traders at Onitsha Main Market, which was recently closed by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for one week.

Speaking in a counter statement on Saturday, Ejiofor described the directive as “fraudulent,” stressing that the source behind it has been compromised and is acting against the collective interest of Ndi-Igbo. He highlighted that the so-called “Emma Powerful” platform had been hijacked by individuals whose agenda thrives on fear, disruption, and the exploitation of vulnerable communities.

“Once again, the well-worn theatre of misinformation has opened its curtains, this time with a particularly lazy script and an insultingly predictable cast. Let it be stated clearly, unequivocally, and without ambiguity: this directive is fake, a phantom, a calculated falsehood,” the statement read in part.

Ejiofor emphasised that IPOB has formally disowned the sit-at-home order, urging citizens to continue their lawful activities without fear of reprisal. He warned that fake directives, if taken seriously, could reignite tensions in the region and expose communities to opportunistic violence.

“The peaceful global movement of the IPOB has formally and decisively disowned this fabricated publication, categorically distancing itself from the false sit-at-home order and directing Ndi-Igbo to go about their lawful and normal activities without fear,” Ejiofor stated.

The lawyer further insisted that going forward, any publication attributed to “Emma Powerful” should be treated with suspicion, if not outright contempt, and called for clarity from IPOB to explain why the platform has become unreliable and hostile to the interest of Ndi-Igbo.

Ejiofor concluded by noting that “a masquerade that dances with fire should not be mistaken for a messenger of truth,” underlining the critical need to protect the peace, progress, and collective well-being of Ala-Igbo.

This comes shortly after IPOB officially disbanded the use of the pseudonym “Emma Powerful,” directing that all official press releases be issued exclusively on its letterheaded paper to prevent further misuse.

Akahi News will continue monitoring this story as the situation develops in the South-East.
