“I Will Seal Off Any House”: Wike Declares War On Turaki PDP Faction, Vows To Go After Banks

Akahi News learnt that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a thunderous warning to the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, threatening to seal any building in Abuja that serves as the group’s headquarters.

But Wike did not stop at buildings. Akahi News gathered that the FCT Minister also warned financial institutions against opening accounts for the Turaki-led faction for the purpose of selling nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections. His message to banks was short and sharp: “You will be in trouble.”

It was alleged that any attempt by the Turaki faction to sell forms to aspirants would amount to duping Nigerians. Wike went further, boasting that the moment Turaki opens a bank account for the PDP under the current circumstances, he will be derobed as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Not a threat one makes lightly.

What Sparked The Minister’s Fury?

Speaking during his monthly media chat on Wednesday, Wike did not hide his frustration. “Any bank that allows Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble. I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters,” he declared, his voice carrying the weight of a man who controls the land on which Abuja stands.

Akahi News had earlier reported that the PDP has been engulfed in a leadership crisis following a Supreme Court judgment that many have described as a political earthquake. The court’s ruling, according to the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, left the PDP without a recognised leadership.

Wabara had announced that the BoT was taking over the national leadership of the party to avoid a vacuum. He argued that the Supreme Court invalidated the November 2025 National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State — the very convention that produced the Turaki-led National Working Committee. The court also upheld the suspension of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Umar Bature, and Kamaldeen Ajibade from their respective positions as National Secretary, National Organising Secretary, and National Legal Adviser.

The implication? According to Wabara, every action taken by those officers — including the appointment of Abdulrahman Mohammed as Acting National Chairman, the composition of the National Caretaker Working Committee, and the conduct of the March 29th, 2026, Convention in Abuja — is illegal, null, and void from the beginning. Ab initio, as the lawyers say.

But here is where the plot thickens. The Wike-loyal faction of the PDP has countered fiercely, insisting that Abdulrahman Mohammed remains the party’s legitimate national chairman. In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed, the faction argued that there is no leadership vacuum. Two men, two truths, one party. And the clock is ticking toward 2027.

Why This Matters To Every Nigerian Who Hates Political Chaos

Consider the ordinary PDP supporter in Benue State. He wakes up each morning not knowing who truly leads his party. Is it Wabara and the BoT? Is it Turaki? Is it Abdulrahman Mohammed? When he pays his membership dues, where does the money go? When he wants to run for ward chairman, who gives him the form?

Or think of the businessman in Lagos who has traditionally supported the PDP but now watches in dismay as the party tears itself apart. Will he invest his energy — and his resources — in a divided house? The answer is blowing in the wind.

It is not a child’s play, this business of opposition politics. Nigeria needs a strong PDP to keep the APC on its toes. But a PDP fighting itself is a PDP that cannot fight for the people. And when the opposition is weak, the ruling party sleeps too soundly. That is never good for democracy.

Wike’s threat to seal houses and go after banks raises another question: does the FCT Minister have the legal authority to act as political referee? Some will cheer his boldness. Others will see it as overreach. But one thing is certain — Wike is not a man who makes empty threats. He has sealed properties before. He can do it again.

The Turaki faction, however, may not bow easily. They have their own interpretation of the Supreme Court judgment. They have their own lawyers. And they have their own ambitions for 2027. The battle for the soul of the PDP is far from over. It may, in fact, just be beginning.
