Key Issues Discussed

During deliberations, the committee centred its focus on three fundamental aspects—venue, funding, and guest invitations.

  • Venue: After careful consideration, the members unanimously agreed that the Anyadaha Town Hall would serve as the official venue for the gathering.
  • Guests: Invitations will be extended to chiefs, village heads, leaders of thought, youth leaders, women leaders, security and stakeholders. This inclusive guest list is designed to reflect the diversity of leadership across Igede Edii and to ensure that voices from all segments of society are represented.
  • Funding: To ensure the success of the meeting, the committee called for support from sons and daughters of Igede, both at home and in the diaspora, as well as from well-wishers. Financial contributions are to be channelled through the approved treasurer’s account:

Theme of the Town Hall Meeting

The committee chairman, Hon. Agogo Patrick, emphasised that the gathering would be more than just a traditional meeting. He noted that the chosen theme, “Unity, Peace and Growth of Igede,” reflects the collective aspiration of the people to consolidate harmony, address developmental challenges, and chart a common course for progress.

According to him, “The Igede Edii Town Hall Meeting will provide an avenue for us to sit together as brothers and sisters, to deliberate on issues affecting us, and to find home-grown solutions that will unite and strengthen our community. Our unity is our strength, and through peace, we can achieve growth that will benefit everyone.”

Community Expectations

The announcement of the planned town hall has generated excitement among residents and elites alike, with expectations running high that the meeting will pave the way for better cooperation among communities, renewed trust between traditional leaders and the youth, and pragmatic steps towards addressing socio-economic concerns.

Observers also believe that the event will serve as a rallying point for fostering intergenerational dialogue, preserving cultural heritage, and advancing development priorities in areas such as education, security, and infrastructure.

Call for Support

The committee reiterated its appeal for broad-based participation and support, noting that the success of the town hall will depend largely on the goodwill of the Igede people and friends of the community.

“The Igede Edii Town Hall Meeting is not just for one person or one community—it is for all of us,” said Comr. Angela Egana, the committee treasurer. “We encourage everyone to contribute in whatever way they can, because unity is built when all hands are on deck.”

The forthcoming Igede Edii Town Hall Meeting stands as a symbolic and practical initiative aimed at harnessing the spirit of collective responsibility for the good of the community. If successfully executed, it could become a reference point for grassroots-driven development across Yala Local Government Area and beyond.
