“We are all governing Ibadan. I’m just the coordinator. You people are the small Olubadan; I’m the big Olubadan,” he stated, assuring the people that his reign would prioritise the collective good of the ancient city.

The monarch further stressed his belief that Ibadan would continue to thrive under God’s grace, with the support of both the Olubadan-in-Council and the entire populace.

Symbol of Religious Harmony

By calling himself the “king of all religions,” the Olubadan signalled his intention to lead without religious bias. Analysts believe this gesture is significant in a city celebrated for its cultural and religious diversity, positioning his reign as one of inclusivity and cooperation.

Residents are optimistic that the 44th Olubadan’s leadership will usher in an era of development and peaceful coexistence in Ibadanland.
