Lagos Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Stabbing Younger Sister to Death in Agege
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old woman, identified as Mary Ibekwe, for allegedly stabbing her younger sister, Favour Uka, to death following a domestic dispute in the Agege area of Lagos State.
Akahi News learnt that the tragic incident has sparked renewed concern over domestic violence and unresolved family conflicts within urban communities in the state.

How the Incident Allegedly Happened
A security consultant and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the arrest on Thursday via a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. Quoting police sources, Makama said the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at about 8:20 p.m. at No. 22 Anikulapo Street, Pen Cinema, Agege.
According to reports made available to Akahi News, an eyewitness, identified as Ikechukwu Uka, reported to the police that the two sisters — Mary Ibekwe, 30, and Favour Uka, 18 — had a disagreement that later degenerated into a physical altercation.
“According to the source, the disagreement escalated, and in the course of the fight, Mary Ibekwe allegedly stabbed her younger sister with a knife on the left side of her chest,” Makama quoted police sources as saying.
Victim Rushed to Hospital, Confirmed Dead
Police sources further revealed that the injured teenager was immediately rescued and rushed to Blue Cross Hospital, Ogba, for urgent medical attention. However, she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty shortly after arrival.
Akahi News gathered that a team of detectives from the Lagos State Police Command promptly visited both the crime scene and the hospital to assess the situation.
“A team of detectives visited the scene as well as the hospital, where the corpse was inspected and photographed,” a police source reportedly said.
Body Deposited for Autopsy, Investigation Ongoing
Following standard procedure, the victim’s body was evacuated and deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The suspect, Mary Ibekwe, has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
“The suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody, while investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing,” the source added.
Police Assure Diligent Prosecution
The Lagos State Police Command has assured members of the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Observers believe the incident once again highlights the dangers of unresolved domestic disputes and the need for early conflict resolution within families.
As investigations continue, Akahi News will monitor developments and provide updates as more details emerge.
