Liberty Career Academy Empowers Teenagers at Career and Stewardship Bootcamp 9.0

A not-for-profit organisation, Liberty Career Academy (LCA), has reaffirmed its commitment to helping teenagers and young people make informed career choices through mentorship and practical exposure to industry experts.

This was made known during its Career and Stewardship Bootcamp 9.0, held on Thursday and Friday at the SNUG Banquet Hall, Yaba, Lagos. The event drew over 200 participants aged 14 to 21 and featured top professionals from diverse sectors such as journalism, finance, medicine, engineering, and education.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and President of LCA, Gbenga Rufai, explained that the initiative, which began in 2017 with just 30 participants, has now grown significantly.
“The remarkable success we’ve seen in the participants’ academic and career journeys through the years has inspired us to continue to expand and enrich the programme,” Rufai said.
LCA’s Manager for Programmes and Administration, Samson Agbono, added that the bootcamp was designed to help teenagers and young adults discover their strengths and become valuable members of society.
A highlight of the opening day was an inspiring keynote address by award-winning journalist and Editor of PUNCH Weekend Titles, Samson Folarin, on the theme: ‘Identifying and Leveraging Your Uniqueness for Life and Career Success.’ He encouraged participants to embrace their individuality rather than imitate others, stressing that true success comes from nurturing one’s unique gifts.
“If you don’t discover and deploy your area of dominance, you will keep struggling, because where you are is not your natural habitat,” he advised.
Other facilitators led sessions on key subjects such as Artificial Intelligence and the future of work, resilience, leadership, and personal growth, equipping the young participants with insights to thrive in an ever-changing world.
The bootcamp concluded with a renewed call for teenagers and young people to focus on developing their strengths, avoid distractions, and leverage mentorship for long-term career and community impact.
