OAU Issues Important Payment Update for Newly Admitted Students
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has released a vital update to guide all newly admitted students through the payment of their acceptance and school fees via the official university e-portal.

According to information obtained by Akahi News, students who have received admission offers — such as those admitted for B.Sc. Mass Communication and other programmes — are expected to proceed with the official Remita (RRR) payment process through the OAU Portal only.

Payment Instructions for OAU Fresh Students

Upon logging into the OAU e-portal, newly admitted students will receive a congratulatory message that reads:

CRUSH OAU POST UTME, OAU PRE-DEGREE, OAU JUPEB At Akahi Tutors, Ile-Ife. Call 08038644328.

“CONGRATULATIONS. You have been admitted for: B.Sc Mass Communication. Click [OK] to download RRR for MAIN FEES and take it to any bank of your choice that accepts payment INTO REMITA. It is ONLY THE RRR downloaded on the OAU PORTAL that will link your payment to OAU PORTAL for you to proceed. It may take about 2 hours for the payment to be activated on the OAU PORTAL. Thank you.”

Step-by-Step Guide to Pay OAU Fees via Remita

Akahi News gathered that the following steps should be carefully followed to ensure a successful transaction:

  1. From your Home Page on the OAU e-portal, click [Payment Activities].
  2. Select [Payment via Remita].
  3. Choose your Type of Payment and provide any missing details (such as email address).
  4. Submit to confirm your information and proceed to generate your RRR.
  5. Select your Mode of Payment (for instance, “Bank Branch for Cash Payment”) and click Submit.
  6. After submission, click on [Print Invoice] at the top-right corner of the page.
  7. Take the printed invoice to any commercial bank that accepts Remita payments and make the payment.

It is important to note that only the RRR generated directly from the OAU Portal will successfully link your payment to your student profile on the system. Students are therefore advised not to use third-party payment links or agents to avoid issues with payment verification.

Activation Time and Portal Confirmation

Akahi News learnt that once payment is made at the bank, it may take approximately two hours for the transaction to be fully activated on the OAU Portal. Students should log back into their portal after this period to confirm successful payment before proceeding with other registration steps.

Final Reminder

The University reiterates that payment through any unofficial platform could result in invalid transactions, making it impossible to proceed with other post-admission activities.

New students are therefore advised to strictly adhere to these instructions to avoid unnecessary delays or complications in their registration process.
