Osun APC Elders Assure Rancour-Free 2025 Governorship Primary, Reaffirm Unity Among Aspirants
In a bid to foster internal cohesion and prepare for the forthcoming governorship primaries, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum, popularly known as Igbimo-Agba Osun, has pledged a peaceful, transparent, and rancour-free selection process ahead of the November 2025 party primaries.

Chairman of the Forum, Engr. Sola Akinwumi, made this known during a strategic meeting held on Monday in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area, where all declared APC gubernatorial aspirants were in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Engr. Akinwumi emphasised that all aspirants understand the rules of engagement and are committed to a fair and democratic process. He reiterated that the purpose of the meeting was to lay the groundwork for a smooth and unified party primary.
“We are here purposely because of the APC in Osun State, in preparation for the party’s gubernatorial primary scheduled for November 2025,” he said. “We are sending a clear message to the public and our members that this exercise will be devoid of rancour. It will be conducted peacefully and transparently. We expect total compliance with the party’s guidelines and a strong show of unity at the end.”
In a powerful call for collective responsibility, Akinwumi urged the aspirants and party members to uphold the core principles of the APC. “Let us reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity, innovation, excellence, and selfless service to the people. We must harness our energy and passion to drive positive change and build a better future for Osun,” he said.
Highlighting the calibre of the aspirants, the chairman described them as “responsible gentlemen” who are fully committed to the party’s victory in the 2026 general election. “We have 11 gubernatorial aspirants, and they have all demonstrated maturity and readiness to support whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer,” Akinwumi added.
Notable aspirants present at the meeting included Senator Babajide Omoworare, Hon. Bola Oyebamiji, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, Prince Dotun Babayemi, Barrister Kunle Adegoke (SAN), Elder Peter Babalola, and Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, among others.
The forum urged all stakeholders to remain steadfast and avoid divisive tendencies, stressing that unity remains the strongest asset of the APC in Osun State.
