The announcement was made late Sunday night by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, in a statement that directed all affected Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Governor Oyebanji expressed his appreciation to the outgoing council members for their contributions to the development of the state, wishing them success in their future endeavours.

However, the dissolution did not affect certain key members of the cabinet. Exempt from the directive are the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as the Commissioners for Health and Human Services; Agriculture and Food Security; Education; Works; and Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives. Also retained are the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, and the Special Adviser on Lands, Survey and e-GIS.

Additionally, all Directors General serving as members of the State Executive Council are to remain in their positions. These include the Director General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), the Director General of the Sustainable Development Goals and Project Monitoring, and the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

The move is seen as part of Governor Oyebanji’s strategy to restructure his cabinet for greater efficiency and to inject fresh energy into the governance of Ekiti State.
