Agbaje Describes Nomination as a Testament to Her Dignity, Service and Leadership
A leading chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 2027 gubernatorial hopeful in Oyo State, Barrister Akeem Adedeji Agbaje, has congratulated Her Excellency, Chief Dr. Florence Ajimobi, on her nomination as a non-career Ambassador by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Akahi News gathered that her name appeared among the 32 additional ambassadorial nominees recently transmitted to the Senate for confirmation — a development that has continued to attract reactions across the country.
In a statement issued to journalists, Barr. Agbaje described the nomination as well-deserved, noting that it represents national recognition of Chief Dr. Ajimobi’s long-standing record of public service, dignity and unwavering dedication to societal progress. He said the former First Lady of Oyo State has, over the years, played an influential role in shaping civic and political life in the state.
“A Nomination Rooted in Legacy and Service” — Agbaje
According to Agbaje, the nomination carries significant weight for the people of Oyo State as it reinforces the enduring influence of the Ajimobi family. Akahi News learnt that he highlighted the legacy of the former two-term Governor, Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, noting that his leadership ethos continues to live on through the impactful engagements of his wife.
“Her Excellency’s nomination is a recognition of character, capacity and the quiet strength she brings into every responsibility,” Agbaje stated. He added that Chief Dr. Ajimobi has remained an admirable figure whose contributions to governance, humanitarian causes and community development continue to inspire confidence among the people.
Agbaje further expressed optimism that the new Ambassador-designate will represent Nigeria with honour and distinction, given her refined sense of duty and long-standing commitment to the public good.
Commendation to President Tinubu
The APC chieftain also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a thoughtful and merit-based selection. He said the President’s choice reflects careful consideration of competence, integrity and leadership pedigree.
Akahi News recalls that Florence Ajimobi’s name also appeared among high-profile nominees such as former Lagos Deputy Governor Femi Pedro, former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, and former INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmud Yakubu — a nomination list that has been widely discussed across political circles.

“May Her Tenure Be Marked by Impact and Fulfilment”
Agbaje concluded his message with prayers for the success of Chief Dr. Ajimobi’s new national assignment. “I pray that the Almighty God grants our matriarch strength and success as she prepares for this new role. May her tenure be marked by impact, fulfilment and continued service to humanity.”
Political observers who spoke with Akahi News believe the appointment further positions Oyo State favourably within the national political space, especially as key party stakeholders continue to consolidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
