Pastor Dolapo Adelakun Urges Women to Find Peace in God After Visit to Psychiatric Hospital
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
Nigerian cleric, Pastor Dolapo Adelakun, has called on women to anchor their peace and stability in God alone, warning against overdependence on relationships, family, or material possessions.

The preacher shared her reflection on Facebook, narrating how the Holy Spirit taught her that true peace comes only from two enduring assets: faith in God and love for oneself.
According to Adelakun, she received this “life lecture” before visiting a psychiatric hospital, where she was confronted with the reality of how many women had lost their mental health due to marital and family crises.
She wrote: “Never own anything except these two assets – your faith in God and your love for yourself. Do not own your children, do not own your husband, do not own your properties. Do not own anything that can be taken away from you. This is the secret of peace.”
Her Experience at the Hospital
Adelakun recounted that during her visit, she observed that the female psychiatric ward was overcrowded with women suffering from emotional trauma linked to their relationships and family.
“All of them were there because of marital and family issues… a fiancé jilted her, she lost a child, her husband married a second wife, her daughter called her a witch, her husband died prematurely, her father did not include her in the will, etc.,” she explained.
In contrast, she said the male ward had only four patients—three admitted for drug-related issues and one man who lost his job.
Message to Women
Pastor Adelakun urged women to stop clinging to relationships or material possessions as the source of their identity or peace.
“Women, please stop holding on to anything apart from your faith in God and your love for yourself. When every other thing fails, please keep these two. When you lose your mind, you have lost everything. The devil will shake everything you are holding on to, so be ready. Hold on only to the internal assets… faith and self-love,” she admonished.
Her message has since resonated with many online, sparking conversations about mental health, the pressures women face in family life, and the need for spiritual and emotional resilience.
