Pastor Odumeje Slams Tinubu, Says Nigeria Has Become ‘Giant of Failure’

Controversial cleric, Pastor Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has taken a swipe at Nigerian leaders, declaring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “a businessman, not a true leader.”

Speaking during a recent sermon that quickly gained traction online, Odumeje lamented Nigeria’s current state, saying its decline is the result of leaders prioritising personal wealth over national progress.

‘Nigeria Is No Longer the Giant of Africa’

Odumeje argued that Nigeria has lost its rightful place on the continent, noting that it can no longer justify its reputation as the “Giant of Africa.”

“Nigeria is no longer the Giant of Africa but a giant of failure. Our leaders do not care about the nation; they only care about their children’s wealth,” he said.

He further compared President Tinubu to international figures such as Donald Trump, Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso, and China’s Xi Jinping, whom he described as leaders with stronger nationalistic visions.

Leadership vs. Business Interests

The pastor accused Nigeria’s political elite of treating governance as an extension of business ventures, rather than an opportunity to transform the lives of citizens.

According to Odumeje, this mindset explains why the country continues to struggle with underdevelopment, insecurity, and economic hardship despite its vast natural and human resources.

Observers told Akahi News that Odumeje’s comments, though blunt, reflect a growing wave of public frustration over governance in Nigeria.

A Message That Resonates with Many

This is not the first time Odumeje has spoken out against political leaders. His fiery style and unconventional methods often spark mixed reactions, but his criticisms frequently mirror sentiments shared by ordinary Nigerians.

As the Tinubu administration continues to push its Renewed Hope Agenda, statements like Odumeje’s highlight the gap between government claims of reform and public perception of leadership performance.
