Reports of Supply Shortages and Internal Friction Strain Iran’s Armed Forces as Conflict Intensifies

Allegations of Logistical Crisis Within Iran’s Military

Iran’s armed forces are reportedly facing mounting logistical challenges, rising desertions, and growing tensions between different branches of the military as the ongoing conflict in the region intensifies.

According to sources familiar with developments inside the country’s military structure, some frontline units are struggling with shortages of ammunition, food, and drinking water.

Akahi News gathered that the difficulties are reportedly affecting both the regular Iranian army, known as the Artesh, and elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The situation, if confirmed, could indicate increasing strain on Iran’s military system as fighting continues.

Tensions Between the Artesh and the Revolutionary Guards

One of the most serious concerns raised by sources involves deteriorating relations between Iran’s regular army and the IRGC.

According to the accounts, tensions have escalated after allegations that wounded army personnel were not transported to hospitals by Revolutionary Guard units despite access to medical facilities.

Sources claimed that IRGC personnel cited shortages of ambulances and blood supplies when declining requests from army units seeking assistance for injured soldiers.

The reported refusals have reportedly fueled resentment among members of the Artesh, deepening longstanding institutional rivalry between the two forces.

Military analysts note that while both forces operate under Iran’s national defence structure, they maintain separate command systems and historically different institutional roles.

Frontline Units Facing Shortages

Beyond the tensions between forces, some frontline army units are reportedly experiencing severe shortages of basic supplies.

Sources indicated that certain units were operating with extremely limited ammunition.

In one cited example, two soldiers were reportedly issued only about 20 bullets, raising concerns about their ability to respond effectively during combat situations.

Field units in several areas were also said to be experiencing shortages of food and clean drinking water.

According to the sources, these harsh conditions have lowered morale among troops and contributed to cases of soldiers abandoning their posts and seeking refuge in nearby communities.

However, these claims have not been independently verified, and Iranian authorities have not publicly confirmed the allegations.

Strain Reportedly Extends to Missile Units

The reported difficulties are not limited to the regular army.

Sources also suggested that some units within the IRGC – including missile divisions traditionally considered among the country’s most strategically important forces – have experienced equipment malfunctions and logistical shortages.

These reportedly include communications failures as well as limited access to food and other essential supplies for personnel.

Despite these issues, the sources indicated that military commanders appear to be prioritising the maintenance of missile systems and strategic weapons capabilities.

According to the accounts, technical components required to sustain missile operations are receiving priority over the delivery of additional supplies for troops on the ground.

Reserve Mobilisation Efforts Face Challenges

Attempts to expand manpower through reserve mobilisation have also reportedly encountered difficulties.

Sources claimed that recent efforts by the Revolutionary Guards to call up reserve personnel produced limited turnout.

Some individuals reportedly failed to report to mobilisation centres, while others allegedly used the opportunity to relocate families toward border areas amid concerns about the ongoing conflict.

Observers say such developments, if accurate, may reflect broader anxiety among the civilian population as regional tensions continue to escalate.

Uncertain Picture of the Military Situation

While the reports paint a picture of growing pressure on Iran’s military infrastructure, independent verification remains limited.

Military information during wartime often emerges from incomplete or contested sources, making it difficult to assess the full scope of the situation on the ground.

Nevertheless, analysts say that the allegations highlight how prolonged conflicts can place enormous logistical and organisational strain on even large military systems.

For now, the evolving situation continues to draw close attention from international observers as the broader regional conflict develops.
