Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi’s Evening Prayer and Reflection — Wednesday, October 15, 2025
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
As the sun sets on this blessed Wednesday, Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi, Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral, Lagere, Ile-Ife, shares a heartfelt evening reflection and prayer, inviting the faithful to end the day in gratitude and peace before God.
🕊️ Reflection: “Sing to the Lord, Bless His Name”
Quoting the words of the Psalmist, Fr. Adeyemi began his message with a call to thanksgiving:
“O sing to the Lord, bless his name. Proclaim his help day by day, tell among the nations his glory and his wonders among all the peoples.”
The priest reminded Christians that each day spent under God’s grace is an opportunity to praise, reflect, and grow spiritually. Gratitude, he said, should always be our first and last word to God — from morning till night.
🙏 Evening Prayer of Thanksgiving and Protection
In his solemn prayer, Fr. Adeyemi thanked God for guiding the faithful throughout the day — through their words, thoughts, and deeds — and for the many unseen graces that sustained them. He prayed:
“Almighty God and Father, with grateful hearts, we offer our evening prayer for another day spent under the influence of your grace. Thank you for guiding our words, thoughts, and deeds. Accept our thanksgiving, Lord.”
He also invoked the intercession of the saints, urging believers to strive for holiness by following their examples.
“Lord Jesus, you asked us to be perfect as our heavenly Father is; uphold us to follow in the footsteps of the saints.”
🌙 A Prayer for Peaceful Rest
As night approaches, Fr. Adeyemi prayed that God’s angels may watch over all families, granting them peaceful sleep, free from nightmares and anxiety.
“As we go to bed, let your holy angels keep watch over us. Grant us peaceful rest devoid of nightmares and stress. In the morning, may it please you to count us among the living, full of life and enthusiasm to serve you diligently.”
He concluded the reflection with his signature blessing:
“We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Praying for your intentions.”
