Major Step Toward Rural Electrification
In a bold move to address years of inadequate power supply, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, has facilitated the installation of six 500KVA transformers across six communities in the district.

The initiative, flagged off in Ikaptang community, Ogoja Local Government Area, marks a significant fulfilment of Senator Jarigbe’s campaign promises to improve rural infrastructure and stimulate local development.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, Constituency Officer Mr. Egar Mgbantu emphasised that the provision of reliable electricity is critical to economic growth, education, healthcare, and the overall well-being of residents.
“Access to stable electricity is not just a basic need; it is a catalyst for industrial growth and social transformation. We are committed to ensuring that every community benefits from this renewed drive for rural electrification,” Mgbantu said.
Benefiting Communities
The six communities set to benefit from the newly installed transformers include:

- Ikaptang Community – Urban 1, Ogoja LGA
- Adigbo-Mfom Ekajuk 1 – Ogoja LGA
- Abouchiche Junction – Bekwarra LGA
- Ijama/Idiku – Okpoma Ward, Yala LGA
- Ekprinyi – Utukwang Central, Obudu LGA
- Ketting – Bendi 1, Obanliku LGA
For Ikaptang, which has endured over 13 years without electricity, the project is particularly historic. Residents expressed deep gratitude to Senator Jarigbe, praying for his continued strength and success in delivering dividends of democracy.

Power Projects for Sustainable Development
This development follows a series of interventions by Senator Jarigbe, including the commissioning of solar-powered boreholes and rural electrification projects across Cross River North.
Akahi News gathered that these initiatives align with his broader agenda to boost local economies, support small businesses, and improve access to essential services in rural communities.
Mr. Mgbantu assured that the senator’s office would continue to monitor the installations to ensure sustainability and hinted at further energy projects to cover other underserved areas in the district.
“The journey to restoring power supply to all communities in Cross River North has just begun. We will not rest until this goal is achieved,” he reiterated.
With this latest intervention, Senator Jarigbe continues to strengthen his reputation as a lawmaker committed to practical solutions for rural development in Cross River State.
