Police Response

The Police Commissioner, CP Adekimi Ojo, has ordered a discreet investigation into the killings and reinforced patrols in the area to prevent a recurrence. He assured residents that normalcy has been restored and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

“The Command confirms an unfortunate armed robbery and culpable homicide incident… investigations are ongoing, and our operatives are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible,” the statement partly read.

Rising Security Concerns

Akahi News gathered that the southern district of Kwara has been plagued by recurrent incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery in recent months, fuelling tension among residents.

While the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, has stepped up security measures in the area, stakeholders say more needs to be done. Youth groups from the affected communities have called for the deployment of military personnel and even the imposition of a curfew to curb the rising wave of criminal attacks.

Residents have continued to urge both state and federal authorities to intensify efforts to ensure lasting peace in the region.
