Very Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi Leads Faithful in Morning Prayer for Guidance, Protection, and Blessings

The dawn of a new day brings renewed hope and opportunity for the faithful, and today, a powerful call to prayer has come from one of the most respected voices in the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo — Very Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi, the Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral Church, Lagere, Ile-Ife.

Opening the reflection with the words, “O God, open our lips and our mouths will announce your praise. Incline to our aid, O Lord, and make haste to help us,” Fr Adeyemi set the tone for a day rooted in divine guidance and spiritual focus. The prayer, which blends scriptural inspiration with heartfelt intercession, serves as a reminder that the first act of the day should be to lift one’s heart and voice to God.
In his prayer of adoration, Fr Adeyemi acknowledged God as the giver of life, the sustainer of all creation, and the source of every blessing. He reminded believers that praising God is not an act that increases His greatness — for His greatness is infinite — but rather an act that transforms and elevates the soul of the one who prays. “Our praise and thanksgiving,” he noted, “profit us for our salvation,” urging the faithful never to allow God’s praise to cease from their lips.
The reflection moved into a petition to Jesus Christ for daily guidance and strength. Fr Adeyemi prayed for hearts that constantly seek God, wills that are ready to serve Him, and spirits that remain conscious of His abiding presence. He encouraged believers to deepen their reverence for God while nurturing genuine love for their neighbours — a love that reflects the compassion and mercy of Christ Himself.
Turning to the practical realities of daily life, the priest interceded for divine wisdom in handling official duties, asking God to help His people act with fairness, kindness, and integrity. He prayed for business owners and workers alike, asking the Lord to grant profitability and prosperity in their endeavours. Importantly, he sought God’s protection against every plan of the enemy to devour the fruits of honest labour, declaring that Satan would have no portion in the blessings of the day.
Fr Adeyemi’s prayer also acknowledged the many challenges people face as they step out each morning — from economic uncertainty to personal trials — and placed them all under the covering of God’s unfailing protection. He asked the Almighty to guard the faithful from danger, guide them in their decisions, and grant them the courage to overcome any obstacle.
As the reflection drew to a close, the parish priest assured those joining in prayer that their intentions were being lifted before God’s throne. “We make our prayer through Christ our Lord,” he said, sealing the intercession with a blessing of peace, joy, and divine favour for the day ahead.
This powerful morning invocation is more than a ritual — it is an invitation for every believer to start the day anchored in God’s word, shielded by His protection, and inspired to live with purpose. As Fr Adeyemi has demonstrated, a day that begins with prayer is a day positioned for grace.
