In what appears to be a major reconciliation step in Rivers State’s turbulent political landscape, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, met on Saturday with members of the Rivers State Elders Council in Port Harcourt.

The high-profile meeting, attended by top political and traditional figures, has been described by insiders as a move towards restoring harmony within the state’s fractured political family.
Political Leaders Reunite Amid Tensions
According to Akahi News, the gathering brought together key political stakeholders across party lines, including Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, and Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.
The meeting comes amid months of tension between Wike and Fubara, following disagreements over political control and governance structure in the state. However, the latest development suggests a renewed effort to rebuild trust and promote cooperation among Rivers political leaders.
