Seven Cross River NYSC Ex Corps Members Receive 2025 Presidential Honours Award for Outstanding National Service

In a proud and historic moment for Cross River State, seven Ex National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from the state have been honoured with the prestigious 2025 Presidential Honours Award for their exceptional contributions to community development across the country.
The award ceremony, held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, recognised corps members who went beyond their primary assignments to execute impactful personal Community Development Service (CDS) projects in their places of primary assignment.
Among the awardees were seven remarkable sons and daughters of Cross River State, whose dedication, innovation, and humanitarian service distinguished them during their national service year.

1. Utsu Christopher AgiounimObudu, served in Kwara State
Christopher stood out for his multifaceted approach to community development in Kwara State. His service year saw the execution of highly impactful projects such as:

• Construction of a toilet facility to promote hygiene in underserved areas.
• Reconstruction of a community well to improve access to clean water.
• Led a vigorous Operation Zero Open Defecation (OZOD) sensitisation campaign.
• Trained and empowered 40 people in liquid soap production to enhance self-reliance.
• Distributed exercise books to 150 students and awarded scholarships to two primary school pupils, showing his deep commitment to education and youth development.
2. Ominyang Clement EkunkeObudu, served in Plateau State
Clement’s service in Plateau State was marked by his strong focus on renewable energy, skills training, and educational support. He:

3. Agom JohnsonOgoja, served in Ebonyi State

• Conducted research on soybean production in Afikpo and distributed seeds to farmers, boosting local agricultural development.
4. Edet Favour Asuquo – Odukpani, served in Katsina State
Edet’s service in Katsina State was both transformative and far-reaching, touching lives across education, health, and environmental sustainability. She:

• Sensitised 800 pupils on hygiene and waste management, and donated 100 waste bins.
• Awarded scholarships to three pupils at Benta Maje and trained 180 community members on food preservation techniques.
5. Udama Freedom AyuwafubeObanliku, served in Plateau State
Udama’s contributions in Plateau State focused on basic infrastructure and financial empowerment. He:

6. Ndem Nkanor NdemOdukpani, served in Ondo State
Ndem’s service year was marked by a unique blend of health, education, and infrastructural interventions in Ondo State. His initiatives included:

7. Bisong Miracle KelechiBoki, served in Imo State.

Bisong’s recognition came under the “Hope Alive” category—a powerful testament to courage and resilience.
During active service in Imo State, She was involved in a severe accident that resulted in a disability. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Bisong maintained a positive spirit and unwavering dedication to national service, symbolising the ultimate strength of character and sacrifice.

Celebrating Excellence and National Impact
The 2025 Presidential Honours Award is one of the highest recognitions bestowed upon NYSC members by the Nigerian government. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while presenting the awards, lauded the recipients for their patriotism, selfless service, and transformative community projects.
Cross River State, with its deep reservoir of talented and service-driven youth, continues to set a national standard in the NYSC scheme. The NYSC State Coordinator praised the honourees, noting that their exceptional conduct and creativity have made Cross River proud.
