Ammeo Nation Celebrates Dr. Mrs. Chukwuka I. Icha’s Appointment as Registrar, University of Calabar

In a heartfelt display of unity, pride, and celebration, the Ammeo Community Development Initiative (popularly known as Ammeo Nation) paid a courtesy visit to their illustrious daughter, Dr. Mrs. Chukwuka I. Icha, following her historic appointment as the Registrar of the University of Calabar, Calabar.

The visit, which took place on September 3, 2025, at the university premises, was led by the President of Ammeo Nation, Mr. Okorie Assem, and attracted a delegation of prominent sons and daughters of Akpet Central in Biase Local Government Area.
Celebrating an Iconic Milestone
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Okorie Assem conveyed the collective joy and pride of the Ammeo people, describing Dr. Mrs. Icha’s appointment as a divine elevation and a testimony to her hard work, resilience, and commitment to academic excellence.
“Today, we have come as a family, as a people bound by culture, heritage, and a shared dream, to celebrate our daughter, Dr. Mrs. Chukwuka Icha. Her appointment as the first Registrar from Ammeo Nation is a landmark achievement that brings honour not only to Akpet Central but to the entire Biase Local Government Area,” Mr. Assem declared.
He further explained that Ammeo Nation, as a community-driven initiative, was built on principles of collaborative development, education, and youth empowerment, pledging the group’s continued support for Dr. Mrs. Icha in her new role.
Calls for Opportunities and Representation
In his goodwill message, Hon. Edwin Ekpenyong, Treasurer of Ammeo Nation, recalled the warm reception the community received during Dr. Mrs. Icha’s thanksgiving service. He emphasised the love and admiration the people have for her, noting that her appointment has inspired hope and ambition among Ammeo youths.
He appealed to the new Registrar to leverage her position to create more opportunities for the Ammeo people in areas of admissions, employment, and academic engagement within the University of Calabar community.
“We believe your leadership will open doors for many of our young people and professionals. Ammeo Nation is proud of you, and we trust that you will always carry our people along,” Ekpenyong added.
Prayer, Gifts, and Emotional Tributes
The event featured emotional tributes, prayers, and cultural expressions of goodwill. Hon. Mrs. Mary James Akpet, JP, a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of Ammeo Nation, offered heartfelt prayers for divine wisdom and strength for Dr. Mrs. Icha as she assumes her new responsibilities.
On behalf of the Ammeo people, she also presented a beautifully framed portrait to the Registrar, symbolising the community’s love, respect, and unwavering support.
Other dignitaries present included Ekpo Adem, Esq. (Legal Adviser), Mr. Inang Patrick (Youth Leader), Ms. Lucy Onda (Women Leader), Hon. Sunday Amang (BOT Member), Ohams Bonaventure (Director of Press), and several other esteemed members of Ammeo Nation, all of whom expressed profound gratitude for the honour Dr. Mrs. Icha has brought to their community.

In her response, Dr. Mrs. Chukwuka I. Icha thanked the Ammeo Nation for the surprise visit, describing it as deeply touching and symbolic of the strong bond between her and the community.

She pledged to always make her people proud, assuring them that Ammeo and Biase would not be left behind in opportunities arising from her office.
“This appointment is not just for me; it is for all of us. Whenever the opportunity comes, be rest assured that Ammeo people and the entire Biase community will be carried along,” she said with gratitude.
