Fifteen-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, the son of football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, has received his first-ever call-up to Portugal’s Under-16 national team, Akahi News reports.

Ronaldo Jr, who currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr’s youth team, alongside his father, has been included in a 22-man squad to represent Portugal in the upcoming Federations Cup Tournament, where they will face Turkey, Wales, and England from October 30 to November 4.
Rising Star in His Father’s Footsteps
According to Akahi News, Ronaldo Jr’s latest milestone comes just months after he was selected for Portugal’s Under-15 squad in May — a move that fuelled excitement about the possibility of him one day sharing the pitch with his father.

While such a dream scenario seems improbable — given Cristiano Ronaldo Sr will turn 41 in February — the Portuguese icon continues to defy age. As Akahi News gathered, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner recently netted twice against Hungary to become the highest goal scorer in World Cup qualifying history, pushing his career total to a staggering 949 goals.
Football Legacy Continues
Ronaldo Sr, who has made 225 appearances and scored 143 goals for Portugal — both all-time records — seems to have passed on his football genius to his son. Akahi News notes that Ronaldo Jr, affectionately known as Cristianinho, has played in the youth academies of Juventus and Manchester United, mirroring his father’s club journey before his move to the Saudi Pro League in 2022.

Sporting the famous No. 7 shirt, Ronaldo Jr usually operates on the left wing and recently impressed during a 4–1 victory over Japan for Portugal’s U-15s, with his grandmother, Dolores Aveiro, watching proudly from the stands. Scouts from Manchester United and several top European clubs were also present, Akahi News learnt.

Following the match, the elder Ronaldo expressed his pride on Instagram, writing:
“Congratulations on your debut for Portugal, son. Very proud of you.”
A Family of Football and Legacy
Ronaldo Sr, a father of five, continues to inspire millions worldwide with his unrelenting drive and commitment to the game. Akahi News recalls that he made his own debut for Portugal’s U-15s in 2001. Now, more than two decades later, his son is taking the same first steps on the international stage.

As the football world watches, one question lingers — could Cristiano Ronaldo Jr someday match or even surpass his father’s legendary achievements? Only time will tell, but for now, the torch has clearly been passed to the next generation of the Ronaldo dynasty.
