Edo Government Promises Medical Support for 22-Year-Old Lady Crushed by Dangote Truck
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
The Edo State Government has pledged to take full responsibility for the medical bills and advanced treatment of a 22-year-old lady who was left paralysed after being crushed by a truck allegedly operated by Dangote Group’s unlicensed drivers.

The development was made public by popular activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), who shared a video and accompanying statement on his official Facebook page 11 hours ago.
Government Intervention After 11 Months
According to VDM, the tragic incident occurred nearly a year ago, leaving the young woman confined to the hospital for 11 months without adequate support.
He explained that the Edo State Government, through the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, contacted him on Tuesday to promise urgent intervention in the case.
True to that promise, officials reportedly visited the hospital on Wednesday and assured that the government will clear all outstanding medical bills and collaborate with the hospital to secure advanced treatment for the victim.
Victim’s Current Medical Condition
The young woman’s situation remains critical. She is said to be completely paralysed as a result of the accident and unable to breathe through her nose, hence the presence of a tube inserted into her throat to aid breathing.
VDM, in his post, expressed deep concern for her health and prayed for divine intervention:
“I pray God restores all.”
Public Reactions and Accountability Questions
The case has reignited public debate about the safety of trucks operated by companies in Nigeria, particularly the Dangote Group, which has faced repeated criticisms over accidents involving its heavy-duty vehicles.
Citizens are now calling for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations and accountability from both companies and government regulators to prevent further tragedies.
A Ray of Hope
While the road to recovery for the victim remains uncertain, the Edo State Government’s commitment has been welcomed as a step in the right direction. For her family and advocates, the intervention provides a glimmer of hope after months of despair.
Observers say the case also underscores the critical role of social advocacy and online activism in drawing attention to issues that might otherwise be neglected.
Akahi News will continue to monitor developments on this matter, particularly the government’s fulfilment of its promises and the medical progress of the victim.
