Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved a minor reshuffle of the State Executive Council as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.
Details of the cabinet changes were contained in a letter dated January 29, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor. The letter was made available to journalists on Friday and confirmed that the reshuffle takes effect from January 30, 2026.

Key Changes in the Executive Council
According to the letter, Vincent Osas Uwadiae, who previously served as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands and Housing to serve as Commissioner.
In a related development, Yakubu Oshiorenua, the former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff to the Governor, Governor’s Office.
The reshuffle also affects the Office of the Chief of Staff, as Gani Audu, who held the position until now, has been nominated to resume duties as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources. His appointment, however, remains subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
Rationale Behind the Reshuffle
The letter explained that the adjustments are part of deliberate steps aimed at strengthening governance structures, enhancing coordination, and promoting greater efficiency in the administration of state affairs.
“His Excellency expresses confidence that these strategic adjustments will further enhance coordination, policy implementation, and effective governance in Edo State,” the statement concluded.
