A Message of Gratitude and Renewal
On Monday, 8th September 2025, the Catholic faithful in Osun State and beyond were once again blessed with a heartfelt evening prayer message from Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi, Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral, Lagere, Ile-Ife.

In his message released from the parish prayer desk, the revered cleric drew inspiration from the Psalms, declaring:
“The law of the Lord is perfect, it revives the soul. The rule of the Lord is to be trusted, it gives wisdom to the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, they gladden the heart.”
This opening, Akahi News gathered, set the tone for an evening reflection anchored on thanksgiving, divine protection, and the quest for wisdom and peace in a world filled with challenges.
Thanksgiving for God’s Providence
In the message, Rev. Fr Adeyemi expressed gratitude to God for His providence throughout the day, acknowledging the many blessings received by the faithful in both spiritual and temporal needs.
“Lord God almighty, we return all glory and honour to you as we come to the end of this day safely. Thank you for your divine providence that has taken care of our needs both temporal and spiritual,” the priest prayed.
The cleric further noted that human language could never fully capture the extent of God’s goodness, emphasising that even if the body were covered with tongues, it would still be insufficient to thank Him adequately.
Prayers for the Young and Elderly
Rev. Fr Adeyemi also used the evening prayer session to present heartfelt intercessions for various groups within society. Addressing the youth, he prayed for courage, wisdom, and divine direction as they navigate crucial life decisions in an increasingly complex world.
“Loving Jesus, you are the Lord and source of our freedom, give us the grace to continually enjoy peace, joy and freedom of the children of God. Give courage and strength to the young, help them to make the right decisions for their lives,” he said.
Turning to the elderly, he sought God’s grace for patience, tolerance, and compassion, so that they might guide the younger generation with love and understanding.
Seeking God’s Eternal Wisdom and Protection
Rev. Fr Adeyemi’s prayer also focused on spiritual renewal and divine protection through the night. With heartfelt devotion, he asked for God’s wisdom to make the petitions of the faithful pleasing in His sight and to grant them a refreshing rest.
“Eternal Wisdom, let the prayer we make with faith and uplifted hearts, be an offering pleasing in your sight. Grant us a comfortable and refreshing night rest. In the morning, may we rise up full of life and enthusiasm to face our tasks devotedly,” the cleric prayed.
He concluded the evening message with assurance of prayers for the intentions of all who look up to God for mercy and blessings.
A Source of Daily Inspiration
Akahi News notes that evening prayer messages from Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi have become a source of spiritual strength for Catholics and Christians across the state. Many faithful describe these reflections as a lifeline of hope, especially in times of personal or communal challenges.
With themes of gratitude, wisdom, courage, and renewal, Monday’s message once again underscored the cleric’s dedication to shepherding his flock with compassion and unwavering faith.
