Nigeria’s U-20 women’s football team, the Falconets, delivered a spectacular performance in Ibadan on Saturday, defeating She-Amavubi of Rwanda 4–0 in the second leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifiers.

The match witnessed total dominance from the Nigerian side as Precious Oscar opened the scoring in the 15th minute, sparking wild celebrations among fans at the stadium. Just five minutes later, Fatimoh Adesina doubled the lead with a well-taken corner kick that left the Rwandan defence in disarray.

The second half saw Janet Akekoromowei extend the lead in the 64th minute with a powerful strike before Taiwo Afolabi sealed the emphatic victory with a fourth goal at the stroke of full time.

Rwanda Showed Resilience Despite Loss

Despite the defeat, She-Amavubi showed moments of resilience, notably in the 79th minute when they nearly pulled one back, only for Falconets’ goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma to make a superb save to keep the clean sheet intact.

Speaking after the game, Falconets Head Coach, Moses Aduku, praised the determination of the Rwandan side, stating that reviewing the first-leg footage helped his team make vital corrections in their attacking play.

On his part, She-Amavubi’s Head Coach, Andre Cassa-mbungo, admitted that his young squad faced a superior team but expressed optimism about their growth in the coming years.

Next Challenge for Falconets

With a 5–0 aggregate victory following their 1–0 win in Kigali, the Falconets will now face the winner between Senegal and Algeria in the third and final qualifying round. The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, the 12th edition, is scheduled to take place in Poland.
