Modern Mass Transit to Drive Mobility and Investment

The proposed Metropolitan Rail Service will deliver a modern, efficient, and affordable mass transit system connecting key districts across Kano’s metropolitan axis. Once completed, the rail network is expected to significantly reduce road congestion, shorten travel time, and lower transportation costs for residents and businesses.

Beyond mobility, the project is projected to facilitate trade, attract private investment, create employment opportunities, and enhance the overall quality of life within the city. Improved connectivity is also expected to boost productivity and support urban expansion in a more organised and environmentally sustainable manner.

Governor Yusuf described the project as a landmark intervention that will reposition Kano as a leading transportation hub in Northern Nigeria, strengthening its role in regional commerce and logistics.

Commitment to Transparency and Federal Collaboration

The governor assured residents that the Kano State Government will work closely with relevant federal agencies to ensure transparent implementation, timely delivery, and maximum socio-economic impact for the people.

He further expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for approving the project, reaffirming his administration’s readiness to complement federal initiatives through supportive policies, infrastructure planning, and community engagement.
