Fubara Declares ‘Proper Peace’ in Rivers After Meeting Tinubu
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday announced that “proper peace” has finally returned to the state after months of intense political tension.

Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja shortly after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, Governor Fubara said he had resumed his official duties in an atmosphere of calm and cooperation.
“As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together,” he declared.
Although the governor did not directly mention names, political observers believe his comments refer to his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, with whom he had been locked in a prolonged political dispute that contributed to instability in the state.

Governor Fubara explained that his visit to President Tinubu was primarily a courtesy call and an opportunity to seek guidance following the expiration of the six-month emergency rule imposed on Rivers State.
The emergency rule, which suspended democratic institutions in the state, was lifted last week, paving the way for the resumption of normal governance activities.
Political analysts believe this declaration of peace could signal a fresh start for the state’s leadership, potentially ending the political hostilities that have defined its recent history.
