“Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has unveiled ambitious plans to transform the state’s educational infrastructure and transportation network. During the State Executive Council meeting in Calabar on Friday, Governor Otu announced that his administration aims to renovate at least 1,000 schools across the state, revolutionizing the learning environment for thousands of students.
Furthermore, the governor revealed that his administration has secured funding for a landmark railway project, connecting the southern and northern regions of Cross River State. The railway line will stretch from Bakassi Local Government Area in the south to Ogoja, Obudu, and Bakwarra Local Government Areas in the north, facilitating the efficient transportation of agricultural products, which are abundant in the state.
This project is expected to significantly boost the state’s economy and enhance the quality of life for residents. Governor Otu’s commitment to infrastructure development and education is set to leave a lasting legacy in Cross River State.”

“A woman in Taraba State has been taken into custody for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on her step-grandson. The incident occurred in the Wukari Local Government Area of the state. According to reports, Chinecherim Julius suffered brutal assault and burn injuries to his lip, allegedly at the hands of his grandfather’s wife. The woman used a hot knife to cause the burn, leaving the young boy with serious wounds. Ibrahim Audu Angyu, Senior Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Chairman of Wukari LGA, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Thursday, August 8, 2024.”
