“Unical Scandal: Management Clears Air on NYSC Certificate Fraud, Reveals Internal Investigation and Collaboration with Authorities”
The University of Calabar (Unical) management has responded to the recent scandal involving 101 purported graduates whose National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates were invalidated due to fraudulent mobilization. Registrar Gabriel Egbe stated that the university exposed the criminal act and brought it to the attention of NYSC and other organizations.
Egbe revealed that an internal investigation in September 2023 uncovered 11 cases of NYSC portal infiltration, leading to a request for prosecution. The university collaborated with NYSC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate and apprehend culprits.

The management emphasized that the culpable students hold fake certificates and called on NYSC to issue a release about the remaining 85 persons implicated in the scandal. The university commended NYSC for making public the fate of the 101 persons involved.
