The Yache Nation in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State has been praised for their commitment to preserving their rich cultural heritage during this year’s New Yam Festival.
Hon. Brian Odey, who represents Yala 1 State Constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly, expressed his admiration in a congratulatory message. He described the people of Yache as great, industrious, and peace-loving, highlighting their dedication to upholding the traditions of their ancestors.
“I congratulate the great, industrious, and peace-loving people of Yache Nation on the occasion of the 2024 New Yam celebration,” said Hon. Brian. “This festival continues the age-old tradition of our forefathers, who celebrated the harvest of yams as a way of thanking God for His blessings.”
He continued, “Today, we give thanks to God not only for a bountiful harvest in the fields but also for life, good health, and progress. As we gather to celebrate, I pray that peace and prosperity will continue to flourish in Yache, Yala, and across Cross River State.”
