Dr Clement Alegu has congratulated Hon. Dr Mrs Stella Oreme Odey-Ekpo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in Cross River State, following a reported court victory that has strengthened her position in the contest for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a congratulatory message, Alegu described the development as a significant moment in Stella Odey-Ekpo’s political journey, praising her resilience, courage and unwavering determination. He expressed hope that the outcome would further inspire her commitment to serving the people and advancing the vision of a better Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.

The court case was instituted by Hon. Godwin Offionor, who challenged whether Stella Odey-Ekpo had duly resigned from her previous appointment within the stipulated period before the election.
According to members of Stella Odey-Ekpo’s legal team who spoke with journalists after the court proceedings on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the case was decided on its merit. They said the court was convinced by the evidence presented that Stella Odey-Ekpo had resigned 30 days before the relevant election, addressing the central issue raised by the plaintiff.
The legal team also explained that the plaintiff could have made inquiries through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to ascertain the status of her resignation.
According to her lawyers, the court’s decision affirmed Stella Odey-Ekpo as the rightful APC candidate for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election.
Reacting to the development, Alegu expressed confidence that the reported victory would encourage Odey-Ekpo to remain focused on her political aspirations and the expectations of her constituents.
“Today’s victory marks an important moment in your political journey, reflecting resilience, courage, and unwavering determination,” he stated.
Addressing her as “our dear Principal”, Alegu added: “Congratulations, our dear Principal! Victory Always!”
The reported court victory represents a significant development for Stella Odey-Ekpo and her supporters as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election.
