Lagos Tension as Content Creator Omoga Entertainment Escapes Mob Attack After “Terror Prank”
Panic in Lagos as Fake AK-47 Prank Nearly Turns Deadly
A dramatic scene unfolded in Lagos State after popular content creator Oriyomi Olaniyi, widely known as Omoga Entertainment, narrowly escaped being lynched during a prank that went terribly wrong. Akahi News learnt that the entertainer disguised himself as a terrorist, wielding an object shaped like an AK-47, a move that immediately triggered fear and chaos among residents.

A video circulating online shows Olaniyi dressed in a jalabiya and mask, clutching the gun-like object inside a black pouch. He stood in front of a shop speaking in unclear Hausa, apparently to frighten his targets. His appearance, Akahi News gathered, sent shockwaves through the area, prompting passersby to confront him.
Mob Descends as Fear Turns Into Anger
Eyewitnesses mistook him for a real terrorist, and the situation escalated instantly. Several individuals attacked him, one even reportedly grabbing a bottle in an attempt to strike him. Despite Olaniyi’s repeated shouts that it was “just a prank,” the attackers continued, with some bystanders yelling “werey ni e,” meaning “You are mad,” in Yoruba.
According to visuals reviewed by Akahi News, it took the intervention of a few onlookers before the mob realised the gun was fake. Once the situation calmed, Olaniyi could be heard thanking those who stepped in, saying “Ese gan, ema binu,” meaning “Thank you very much, don’t be angry.”
Nigerians React: “This Is Reckless”
The incident has sparked intense online conversations about the growing trend of extreme pranks in Nigeria. Many commentators argued that such stunts are dangerous, especially amid rising insecurity nationwide.
An X user, @productivityVA, wrote, “Tension is already high, playing with people’s fear isn’t a prank, it’s reckless.”
Another user, @folushoposter, said, “Na those guys I blame. Make he come do that yeye prank for my area, white house for Agbado. 10 secs blood don dey everywhere.”
Similarly, @Kamoflag expressed frustration about the trend of risky content, stating, “Some Nigerians are just so stupid that everything is cruise or joke. People are losing their lives. Yet, it’s a trend on TikTok or skit for some dumb Nigerians.”
Omoga Speaks After Survival: “I Won’t Try It Again”
In a follow-up video posted after the incident, Olaniyi admitted the prank was ill-advised and vowed never to attempt such an act again. He urged fellow content creators to reconsider extreme pranks, especially during this period of heightened insecurity.
Observers told Akahi News that this incident highlights a growing need for regulations or guidelines for public pranks to prevent chaos, mob action, or tragic outcomes.
