The Catholic Diocese of Osogbo has announced the third phase of its flagship programme on strengthening marriage and family life, drawing enthusiastic attention from couples across the region. The initiative, organised by the Marriage, Family and Human Life Commission, is themed “Capacity Building in Marriage & Family Life” and is scheduled to hold from 21st to 22nd November 2025 at the Pastoral Centre, Ede.
According to information gathered by Akahi News, the programme—titled “Re: Marriage & Family Life as Instruments of Mission (Phase 3)”—aims to deepen the spiritual, emotional, and interpersonal capacities of married couples, helping them to strengthen family bonds in a fast-changing world.

A Renewed Push for Stronger Family Structures
Journalists learnt that the two-day event is designed to address practical aspects of marriage that often challenge couples. The Commission emphasised that strong marriages remain vital instruments of evangelisation and social stability, especially within Catholic communities.
The organisers noted that the programme aligns with the Diocese’s ongoing mission to raise emotionally resilient families capable of serving as pillars within society. Akahi News gathered that this year’s phase is expected to be one of the most comprehensive yet, with carefully selected topics addressing contemporary marital needs.
Key Topics to Be Addressed
The programme will feature a series of interactive lectures and sessions tailored to equip couples with essential skills. Topics include:
• Communication Skills in Marriage & Family Life
Experts will guide participants on how to build healthier lines of communication, an area many counsellors identify as the bedrock of a thriving marriage.
• Peace Building & Conflict Resolution
Resource persons will explore strategies for managing disagreements constructively, helping couples reduce friction and promote harmony within the home.
• Building Intimacy as a Process
Rather than seeing intimacy as a one-time achievement, facilitators will teach its gradual, intentional development.
• Management of Temperaments & Personalities
This session will help couples understand behavioural differences and how to adapt lovingly to each other’s emotional makeup.
These topics, according to information obtained by Akahi News, were selected after careful assessment of recurring issues encountered in marriage counselling within the Diocese.
Registration Subsidy to Encourage Participation
Registration for the event is set at ₦25,000 per couple, but the Diocese has provided a ₦10,000 bishop’s subsidy, reducing the payable fee to ₦15,000 per couple. Many parishioners told Akahi News that the subsidy demonstrates the Church’s commitment to supporting families spiritually and financially.
Couples can register through Our Lady & St. Kizito Parish, Ede, using the designated First Bank account provided on the official flyer.
Strengthening Catholic Families for Mission
Organisers expressed optimism that the November programme will inspire couples to rediscover joy, unity and purpose in their marriages. The Commission calls on all married Catholics—especially those seeking renewed passion and spiritual grounding—to take advantage of the opportunity.
As the countdown to the event continues, Akahi News will monitor updates and share further details with readers.
