NCAA Engages Both Passenger and Crew

This meeting comes a day after the regulatory agency met with Ibom Air crew members, including Julie Edwards, who were directly involved in the altercation. Achimugu noted that several directorates within the NCAA were working together to ensure a fair and proper conclusion to the investigation.

He stated: “Yesterday [Thursday] in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the crew involved in the Comfort Emmanson incident as part of investigations into that event.”

Background of the Incident

The altercation, which went viral after video clips surfaced online, showed a heated exchange between Emmanson and Ibom Air crew members. Reports indicated that she allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and later confronted security agents at the Lagos airport.

Public reactions were divided. While some Nigerians condemned the passenger’s “aggressive display,” others criticised a flight attendant who appeared to physically block her from disembarking.

Legal Outcome

Following the incident, Emmanson was arrested, arraigned in court, and remanded in prison. However, she was subsequently released after the charges were dropped.

The NCAA has yet to issue a comprehensive report on its findings, but the ongoing meetings suggest that the regulator is determined to handle the matter with transparency and accountability.
