NDLEA Intercepts 48.6kg of High-Grade Cannabis Concealed in Kitchen Sinks

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a major drug shipment, seizing 48.6kg of high-grade cannabis, popularly known as “Loud”, hidden inside imported kitchen sinks.
Drug Concealed in Courier Shipment
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, operatives discovered 90 parcels of the illicit substance on Tuesday, 19th August, at a courier company in Lagos. The drugs were packed into three cartons of imported kitchen sinks from the United States, a method smugglers had hoped would evade detection.
Crackdown on Drug Trafficking Through Courier Services
Babafemi explained that the interception was executed by the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, as part of the agency’s intensified efforts to monitor and dismantle trafficking networks exploiting courier and logistics services.
Ongoing Battle Against Drug Smuggling
This latest bust adds to the NDLEA’s growing record of successes in preventing the circulation of dangerous narcotics across Nigeria. The agency has in recent months recorded multiple seizures of concealed drugs at airports, seaports, and logistics hubs, underscoring its determination to combat the menace of drug abuse and trafficking.
