Nigeria Revenue Service Unveils New Identity, Logo as FIRS Transition Takes Full Effect

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), formerly known as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has officially unveiled its new institutional identity and logo, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal and administrative reforms.

The unveiling, which follows the signing into law of key tax and revenue reforms by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2025, signals the full operational transition from FIRS to the newly established Nigeria Revenue Service. The development represents a bold step towards reshaping Nigeria’s revenue administration framework in line with global best practices.

In an official press statement obtained by Akahi News, the NRS described the unveiling as a defining moment in the evolution of Nigeria’s tax administration system.

“The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) today unveiled its new institutional identity, including its official logo, marking an important milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s revenue administration framework,” the statement read.

According to the Service, the new identity reflects a renewed commitment to efficiency, accountability, and a more service-driven approach to revenue collection, in line with Nigeria’s broader economic transformation agenda.

Akahi News gathered that the rebranding is not merely cosmetic but symbolic of deeper structural and operational reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving engagement with taxpayers.

Strengthening Trust and Service Delivery

The NRS emphasised that the transition represents continuity of purpose rather than a departure from existing responsibilities. The agency noted that its renewed outlook is anchored on transparency, partnership, and improved service delivery to Nigerians.

“It signals continuity of purpose, strengthened institutional capacity, and a forward-looking approach to supporting taxpayers and national development,” the statement added.

Analysts say the move could help rebuild public confidence in Nigeria’s tax system, especially at a time when the federal government is seeking to widen the tax net, reduce dependence on oil revenue, and promote sustainable economic growth.

A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Revenue Administration

In a forward-looking tone, the Service described the unveiling as the beginning of a stronger relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public.

“The unveiling of this new identity represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public—built on trust, clarity, and shared prosperity,” the statement concluded.

The NRS further invited stakeholders and the general public to engage with its new platform, stating: “Welcome to a new dawn of revenue administration. Together we rise. Together we prosper.”

Observers believe the success of the Nigeria Revenue Service will depend largely on how effectively it translates its renewed vision into tangible improvements in tax administration, service delivery, and public confidence. As Nigeria navigates complex economic realities, the performance of the NRS will remain a critical pillar in achieving fiscal sustainability.

Akahi News will continue to monitor developments surrounding the reforms and their impact on Nigeria’s economic landscape.
