NSCDC Dismisses 38 Senior Officers, 20 Others Over Gross Misconduct
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed no fewer than 58 personnel, including 38 senior officers and 20 junior officers, following findings of gross misconduct, insubordination, and other serious offences, Akahi News learnt.
Senior Officers Affected, ACG Among Those Sacked
According to reports, the disciplinary action, announced on Wednesday in Abuja, affected several high-ranking officers, including an Assistant Commandant General (ACG). The decision was taken in line with the Public Service Rules (PSR) after recommendations from the NSCDC Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee, acting under the directive of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

Speaking on the development, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, explained that the dismissed senior officers were found culpable of offences ranging from gross misconduct and insubordination to acts unbecoming of superior officers.
In addition to the dismissals, two senior officers were reportedly demoted by two ranks, one officer was demoted by a single rank with loss of seniority, while five others received official warning letters.
Junior Officers Sanctioned for Criminal and Ethical Breaches
Akahi News gathered that the Corps also dismissed 20 junior officers after the Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee concluded hearings on about 30 cases involving job racketeering, extortion, aiding and abetting illegal petroleum dealings, fraudulent practices, gun running, unauthorised absence from duty (AWOL), and other breaches of the NSCDC Code of Conduct.
Following the committee’s recommendations, three junior officers were demoted by one rank, while seven others were issued warning letters.
NSCDC Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Indiscipline
Prof. Audi noted that a total of 76 personnel — both senior and junior officers — faced varying degrees of disciplinary action in 2025 alone, stressing that the measures were intended to serve as a strong deterrent to others within the Service.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning the Corps through sustained training and retraining, improved welfare packages, and reward systems for officers who demonstrate professionalism, loyalty, and exemplary conduct in the line of duty.
The Commandant General, however, warned that his leadership would not tolerate truancy, indiscipline, or violation of extant laws, ethics, and operational standards guiding the Corps.
Commitment to Reforms and Service Delivery
Akahi News gathered that the NSCDC leadership highlighted several reforms already recorded under Audi’s administration, including clearing promotion backlogs, introducing career progression courses, implementing life insurance compensation for families of deceased personnel, ensuring federal character compliance, and promoting gender inclusiveness.
He urged officers and men of the Corps to remain focused on their statutory responsibilities, noting that professionalism and regimental discipline must remain the guiding principles of the Service.
The NSCDC boss also disclosed the Corps’ readiness to undertake VIP protection duties as assigned through a Presidential Order, acknowledging manpower limitations but assuring that operatives are prepared to deliver effectively.
