OAU Post-UTME 2025: Students, Tutorial Centre Operators Nabbed for Exam Malpractice
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
Reports reaching Akahi News indicate that the ongoing 2025 Post-UTME screening exercise at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has been marred by incidents of examination malpractice. Some candidates were allegedly caught on camera engaging in the illegal act during the screening sessions.
An anonymous source, who spoke exclusively to Akahi News, revealed that certain unregistered tutorial centre operators suspected of collaborating with candidates to perpetrate the malpractice were also apprehended by security personnel on storming the said premises. The source hinted that the arrests took place shortly after the monitoring team reviewed video evidence captured during the exercise.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts by Akahi News to reach the university’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) for an official statement proved unsuccessful. The management of the institution is yet to release an official comment or clarify the next steps for those arrested.
The 2025 OAU Post-UTME screening, which commenced on September 1, 2025, is scheduled to run through September 5. The exercise serves as a prerequisite for candidates seeking admission into the university for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The arrests have sparked conversations among stakeholders, with many calling for stricter measures to curb examination malpractice in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Akahi News will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
