Omoyele Sowore Blasts Obidients Movement, Labels Supporters “Fools” Amid Court Victory
Activist and presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, has openly criticised the Obidients movement, describing its followers as “fools” and alleging that the movement is part of what he called “the biggest political fraud syndicate” in Nigeria.

Sowore’s Court Appearance and Statements
The comments came after Sowore appeared in court yesterday, addressing journalists outside the Federal High Court. He condemned what he perceives as hypocrisy within the movement and warned Nigerians against being misled by political narratives.
“The pity you should feel is for those who are fooled by them. I’m not talking about those actively helping to justify criminal alliances. I mean the large numbers of people being used by these lies,” Sowore stated.
He accused Obidients supporters of being manipulated into believing they are participating in nation-building or a genuine movement for change, only to find themselves caught in what he described as a political Ponzi scheme.
Sowore highlighted the contradictions within the movement, noting how supporters sometimes defend individuals labelled as criminals one day and then justify their actions the next.
“They are the only people who plan to fail,” he added, emphasising the risks of blind loyalty to political figures without accountability.
Legal Victory Precedes Criticism
Sowore’s statements follow a legal triumph, where he successfully obtained the Certified True Copy of a ruling striking out a cybercrime charge previously filed against him. The activist has consistently described the case as politically motivated.
Akahi News gathered that Sowore’s criticism is part of his broader effort to challenge political structures he sees as deceptive, particularly movements that claim to represent reform but allegedly operate in self-interest.
As the 2027 elections approach, Sowore’s remarks add to the ongoing debate about political movements, accountability, and the role of youth-driven campaigns in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
