Peter Obi Mourns the Passing of Clarita Ogar, Labour Party Candidate for Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency
In a solemn expression of grief and solidarity, Mr Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate and leader of the Obidient movement, has announced the passing of Hon. Clarita Ogar, a prominent member of the Labour Party and the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections.

Posting on his verified Facebook page, Obi conveyed the news with a “weighty heart”, describing the late Clarita Ogar as not only a dedicated patriot but also “a fearless woman who stood for justice and a better Nigeria.”
He revealed that he had been in contact with Ogar’s family in recent days and was formally informed of her untimely demise. Extending his heartfelt condolences, Obi wrote:
“On behalf of my family and the entire Obidient family, I sincerely offer my condolences. May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give her family and all of us the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss.”
Clarita Ogar, who emerged as a beacon of hope and advocacy for the people of Yala/Ogoja during her campaign, was widely respected for her courage, commitment to good governance, and unrelenting passion for societal transformation.
The Obidient movement, built around ideals of accountability, equity, and people-centred leadership, has suffered a profound loss with Ogar’s passing. Her memory, as Obi noted, will continue to inspire those who share her vision for a just and progressive Nigeria.
