Regina Daniels Addresses Drug Allegations, Reveals She Only Uses Molly for “Peculiar Reasons”

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has broken her silence on recent allegations of substance abuse, insisting that she is not a drug addict and that the only substance she consumes is Molly, a form of MDMA, for personal reasons she chooses not to disclose. The clarification comes three months after her husband, Ned Nwoko, publicly labelled her a drug user.

Speaking from the United States, where she underwent a formal drug test, Regina emphasised that her actions were intended to protect her children, her public image, and her brand. “I was never on hard drugs. I only used Molly for reasons I won’t disclose. I will definitely sue at the appropriate time,” she said.

Akahi News gathered that the test, conducted at Alere Toxicology Services in Louisiana on January 5, 2026, returned a negative result. The actress also stressed that her focus remains on ensuring that her children understand she was never addicted to drugs.

Timeline of Allegations and Test

The allegations from Ned Nwoko date back to October 19, 2025, when he reportedly attributed Regina’s behaviour to drug and alcohol abuse. Gossip blogs further speculated that her use of substances like Molly may have been linked to enhancing sexual performance, though Regina has clarified that her reasons are personal.

Medical experts note that different substances have varying detection windows. While Molly (MDMA) may leave the blood in 1–2 days and urine within 1–4 days for occasional users, hair tests can detect long-term usage up to 90 days. Depending on the type of sample tested, a negative result may indicate either abstinence or a short-term lapse, raising ongoing public debate about the timing of her test relative to the allegations.

Understanding Molly and Its Risks

For context, Molly, chemically known as 3,4-Methylenedioxy-Methamphetamine (MDMA), is a psychoactive substance distinct from Ecstasy, which is commonly sold in tablet form. While pure MDMA is associated with mood enhancement and feelings of euphoria, the drug is illegal and often adulterated with harmful chemicals such as cocaine or fentanyl. These additives significantly increase health risks, including elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, hyperthermia, panic, depression, and potential for dependency.

Experts warn that repeated use of Molly, especially when mixed with other substances, can lead to serious long-term mental and physical health challenges. Akahi News learnt that even with occasional usage, the risks remain, particularly when purity cannot be guaranteed.

Regina Daniels’ Public Stance

Despite the controversy, Regina has remained firm in defending her reputation and insists that she will pursue legal action to address what she perceives as defamation. She emphasised that the drug test was conducted not only to clear her name but also to set a public example for her children and fans, highlighting the importance of truth and accountability in the public eye.

Observers have noted that this public clarification could significantly influence both Regina’s brand perception and her ongoing legal considerations with her estranged husband.

As Nigerians continue to debate the implications of Regina Daniels’ drug use and the timing of her drug test, the actress has reiterated her commitment to her family and career. Her response sheds light on the complexity of celebrity culture, privacy, and the scrutiny of personal behaviour in the public domain.

While Molly is often perceived socially as a party drug, experts caution against dismissing its potential harm. The negative test result, however, suggests that Regina Daniels has taken steps to distance herself from any allegation of sustained substance abuse.
