Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi Shares Powerful Evening Prayer Online to Mark Last Sunday of 2025
As the year 2025 gradually drew to a close, Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi, the Dean of Priests of Ife Catholic Deanery and Parish Priest of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral Church, Lagere, Ile-Ife, offered a deeply moving evening prayer to the faithful — not through a physical gathering, but via his official social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp, where thousands regularly follow his daily spiritual reflections.
The prayer, released on the last Sunday of 2025, formed part of his consistent online pastoral ministry, through which he reaches parishioners and believers far beyond the physical walls of the church.
A Digital Pulpit for Daily Spiritual Nourishment
Unlike traditional parish gatherings, Rev. Fr Adeyemi’s evening prayer was shared virtually, reflecting the evolving nature of pastoral engagement in modern times. Through WhatsApp broadcasts and online sharing, the priest has continued to offer daily prayers, reflections, and spiritual encouragement to Catholics and other Christians across different locations.
Akahi News gathered that the priest’s online prayers have become a source of comfort and spiritual stability for many families, especially those unable to attend physical services regularly due to work schedules, distance, health concerns, or other commitments.

A Prayer Rooted in Gratitude and Faith
In his message, Rev. Fr Adeyemi began by anchoring the prayer in trust and thanksgiving:
“Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
He invited the faithful to give glory to the Holy Trinity and to acknowledge God’s unfailing presence throughout the year. The prayer reflected deep humility, gratitude, and dependence on divine grace.
“God our loving Father, with faith and humility, we thank you for the grace to join other living souls today to worship you,” he prayed, thanking God for answered prayers while committing unfulfilled intentions into His hands.
According to Akahi News, this portion of the prayer resonated strongly with many listeners who saw it as a moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks despite the challenges of the year.
Christ the Shepherd and Source of Life
Rev. Fr Adeyemi’s prayer centred on the person of Christ, whom he described as the Good Shepherd, the Bread of Life, and the Living Spring. He prayed for spiritual direction, moral clarity, and inner renewal for all who listened.
“May we follow you faithfully as you lead us in the path of eternal salvation,” he prayed, asking God to satisfy the hunger for righteousness and to fill hearts with uprightness.
Akahi News learnt that many faithful who followed the prayer online described it as spiritually refreshing, especially at a time when many people are reflecting on personal growth, faith, and purpose ahead of a new year.
Committing Lives Into God’s Hands
In the closing part of the prayer, Rev. Fr Adeyemi committed the body, mind, and soul of the faithful into God’s care as they prepared for rest.
“Lord God, into your hands we commend ourselves… grant us a comfortable and refreshing night rest. In the morning, may we rise strong and healthy to face our life’s allotted tasks with competence and enthusiasm,” he prayed.
The priest concluded by entrusting all personal intentions to God through Christ, reinforcing hope, peace, and spiritual confidence.
Faith Beyond Physical Walls
The online prayer once again highlighted how digital platforms are reshaping pastoral outreach. Through simple but consistent messages, Rev. Fr Adeyemi continues to provide spiritual leadership beyond the confines of church buildings.
Akahi News gathered that many followers consider his nightly prayers a vital part of their spiritual routine, especially in moments of uncertainty, anxiety, or transition.
As 2025 came to a close, the message stood as a reminder that faith, prayer, and divine guidance remain accessible—whether in a church pew or through a mobile phone screen.
