Senator Fadeyi Partners Chinese Firm to Establish CNG Conversion Centre in Osogbo
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
Senator Olubiyi Abdulazeez Fadeyi, representing Osun Central Senatorial District, has unveiled a groundbreaking partnership with Sichuan Witent Technology Co., Ltd., a globally recognised manufacturer of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits. The collaboration is set to establish a state-of-the-art CNG conversion workshop in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, in a move designed to transform the region’s automotive energy landscape.

Akahi News gathered that the project aligns with Nigeria’s ongoing energy transition plans, which encourage the adoption of cleaner and more affordable alternatives to petrol and diesel.
Strategic Collaboration with Sichuan Witent Technology
Sichuan Witent Technology Co., Ltd., based in China, is a modern high-tech enterprise that specialises in the research, development, production, and servicing of CNG conversion technologies. Their expertise will bring global best practices and advanced technology to Osogbo, ensuring that local technicians and engineers gain first-hand knowledge in the field.
The initiative is expected to boost local content development, reduce dependence on imported kits, and open opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses within the automotive sector.
Scope and Goals of the CNG Conversion Project
The proposed conversion centre in Osogbo will serve as a hub for:
- Manufacturing CNG kits locally, reducing reliance on foreign imports.
- Vehicle conversion services for both private and commercial operators.
- Job creation and skills transfer for young people in Osun Central.
- Reducing fuel costs and dependence on petrol through affordable CNG adoption.
According to the Senator’s Special Adviser on Digital Media, Bashorun Adekanola Desmond Abiodun, the long-term goal is highly ambitious.
“We plan to convert one million commercial vehicles to CNG by 2027. Beyond Osogbo, we aim to expand this initiative to include 50 conversion centres and more than 50 CNG retail outlets across Osun Central in the near future,” he said.
Impact on Osun State and Beyond
This development is not just a boost for Osun Central but also a potential game-changer for Nigeria’s automotive energy transition. The project will:
- Provide cheaper alternatives to petrol amid rising fuel costs.
- Reduce environmental pollution through cleaner energy adoption.
- Create employment opportunities for thousands of skilled and semi-skilled workers.
- Enhance Nigeria’s self-reliance in renewable and alternative fuel technologies.
Akahi News learnt that once operational, the Osogbo facility will serve as a model centre that could be replicated in other states, thereby supporting the Federal Government’s broader agenda of promoting CNG usage nationwide.
Senator Fadeyi’s partnership with Sichuan Witent Technology Co., Ltd. demonstrates a forward-looking approach to energy, industry, and job creation. With its ambitious target of converting one million vehicles by 2027, the initiative is poised to position Osun Central as a pioneer in clean automotive technology in Nigeria.
