Akahi News gathered that the initiative sought not only to improve basic technological competence but also to nurture entrepreneurial thinking among participants. By combining technical skills with business insights, the programme aimed to bridge the digital divide that continues to limit opportunities for many young Nigerians, particularly those in rural and semi-urban communities.
Observers note that digital skills have become increasingly indispensable in today’s economy. For many young people in Cross River North, such exposure represents a significant stepping stone towards financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.
Empowerment Beyond the Classroom
The training was conducted by Cybackor Data Services Ltd, Abuja, under the guidance of Mr. Bassey Ibiang. Beyond classroom instruction, beneficiaries were reportedly financially supported with start-up capital to help them implement the knowledge gained during the programme.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Jarigbe, the Constituency Officer, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, explained that the empowerment scheme was carefully structured to enhance economic self-reliance among young constituents.
According to him, the programme aligns with broader efforts to equip youths with relevant, future-driven skills that can create employment opportunities rather than deepen dependence on limited white-collar jobs.
Akahi News learnt that the financial support component was introduced to ensure that the training does not end as mere theory but translates into practical, income-generating ventures.
Youths Applaud Senator’s Vision
The beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation to Senator Jarigbe for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention. Several participants reportedly offered prayers for God’s continued blessings and strength upon the Senator, acknowledging that the initiative has opened new doors of opportunity.
Community stakeholders have also commended the programme, noting that investments in digital capacity-building are essential to tackling unemployment and poverty across the region.
As Nigeria continues to expand its digital infrastructure and online marketplace, initiatives such as this could play a crucial role in preparing local communities to compete effectively in the global economy.
A Step Towards Sustainable Development
Empowerment programmes centred on digital skills are increasingly recognised as vital tools for sustainable development. By equipping sixty youths with both knowledge and financial backing, Senator Jarigbe’s intervention reflects a model that blends training with tangible support.
If sustained and replicated, such initiatives may significantly transform the economic landscape of Cross River North, empowering a new generation of tech-savvy entrepreneurs capable of driving grassroots development.
